The BGHS assumes that doctoral researchers have already acquired basic methodological skills in their Bachelor's or Master's studies. The Methods Classes therefore serve to reflect on and deal with various methodological approaches and not to provide basic methods training. They are interdisciplinary as far as possible. As a rule, doctoral researchers must read and work on texts in advance of the course, which are made available by the professors (‘Lernraum’ in the eKVV).
The Methods Classes are organised by professors or advanced postdocs at Bielefeld University or by guest lecturers.
Each Methods Class has a duration of 1SWS (hours per week per semester). It can be offered as a regular event weekly or fortnightly or in one or more blocks during a semester.
