Volume 25 of the GESIS publication series has been published and highlights different questions on Refugees in Canada and Germany: From Research to Policies and Practice.

At the beginning of March, the new book "Health Policy and Systems Responses to Forced Migration" by Prof. Kayvan Bozorgmehr, Prof. Oliver Razum and colleagues from the University of Heidelberg and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine was published:
Forced Migration has not been sufficiently researched from a health systems and policy research perspective. This leads to limited knowledge about system-level interventions and policies to improve the health of refugees. The contributions in this anthology aim to fill the aforementioned gap by compiling the state of knowledge on health systems and health policies related to asylum seekers, refugees and internally displaced persons. In addition, the book brings together the findings of scholars from different disciplines such as political science, epidemiology, health sciences, economics, psychology and sociology in the field of refugee migration and points out the need for further research. The book thus serves students, as well as actors from science, politics and practice, as an up-to-date and comprehensive source for the discussion of refugee migration and health systems.

„Negotiating access to health care for asylum seekers in Germany":
The World Health Organization (Regional Office for Europe) recently published a book on "Health Diplomacy: spotlight on refugees and migrants". The publication examines the situation of refugees and migrants from the perspective of health diplomacy. Acknowledging the intrinsic linkages between these issues, this perspective regards health as a political process analogous to other policy spheres (e.g. foreign policy) that requires diplomacy or reconciliation, as well as the negotiation of different points of view and interests.
In their chapter, Prof. Kayvan Bozorgmehr and Prof. Oliver Razum (AG3) examine the introduction of the electronic health card for asylum seekers in Germany from this perspective.
