Welcome to the page of the Mittelbau of the Department of Psychology!

The non-professional academic staff consists of all academic staff memeber in the Department of Psychology: regardless of whether they are a chair staff member, a lecturer for special tasks or a research project staff member and regardless of whether a doctorate/Phd studies has just begun or has already been completed.

We represent the interests of all Mittelbau members in our Department through:

  • Our voting representatives in the Faculty Conferences, as well as committees (e.g. Departmental Board, Examination Board) and commissions (e.g. appointment committees, Equal Opportunities Commission) within the Department.
  • Our participation in the university-wide Mittelbau representation (e.g. Sprecherrat des Mittelbaus).
  • Information, discussion and consensus-building in occasional Mittelbau meetings (approx. 1x per semester) and via an email distribution list.

If you have any questions about our tasks or concerns about Mittelbau, please do not hesitate to contact us.

The Mittelbau meeting is a meeting of all members of the Mittelbau in the Department of Psychology. The Mittelbau meetings usually take place once a semester and take about 60 to 90 minutes. Participation is possible in person or online. The invitation to the meeting with the topics as well as information for the location for attendance and the zoom-link for online participation are announced in advance via the Mittelbau distribution email list. At the Mittelbau meetings, the Mittelbau representatives report from the committees, boards and commissions. In addition, the non-professorial academic staff spokespersons provide information on current news and topics relevant to the non-professorial academic staff.

A number of working groups (WG) are currently being set up to actively shape the Mittelbau of Psychology through our members:

  • WG Onboarding
This WG is committed to an active welcoming culture for new members of our Mittelbau.
  • WG Networking
We would like to found a WG made up of members of our Mittelbau, which plans social events and is committed to active networking, especially within our Mittelbau.
  • WG Meet & Greet
We would also be happy to have the input of our Mittelbau members in planning one-off events such as summer parties, discussion groups and the like.
  • WG Financial Support
We can play an active role in supporting the members of the Mittelbau Psychology. For example, we can consider how we can help to shape funding for young scientists across all units.

If you are interested in participating in one of the working groups or have ideas for further working group topics, please contact us by e-mail via info-mittelbau-psychologie@uni-bielefeld.de!
