Viju Sudhi

Viju Sudhi completed his B. Tech. in Electronics and Communication at the University of Kerala, Trivandrum, India, and an M. Sc. in Digital Engineering at Otto-von-Guericke University, Magdeburg, Germany. After his studies, he joined Fraunhofer IAIS, Dresden as a Research Engineer. In this role, he focused on building Conversational AI systems, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems and Embedding Models.

Viju joined the Semantic Computing group in July 2025 as a Research Associate / PhD Student. He is mainly involved in the project "LLM4KMU", which aims at developing Smaller Language Models (SLMs) for Small and Medium Enterprises. In this project, he focuses on LLM optimization / model compression techniques, including quantization, pruning and knowledge distillation. His interest also lies in the areas of (generative) information retrieval and model-agnostic explainability.
