Work Permit
If you are employed as a teacher, academic co-worker or assistant at Bielefeld University, whose financial requirements are exclusively or predominantly financed by the public sector, you do not need a work permit. You will receive a corresponding entry in your passport. When applying for a visa, you should indicate whether your stay will be financed by a scholarship or whether you will conclude an employment contract with Bielefeld University.
However, this privilege only applies to Researchers and not automatically to their spouses. This means that if your spouse plans to take up a job in the private sector, this must be stated when applying for the visa. You can find more information on this in the section Internationals with family.
