Registration to the German courses

As of now, you can register for German courses in the winter semester 2024/25 in the eKVV.

Course dates

Intensive courses winter semester 2024/25

12. September - 02. October 2024, Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. (for dates check eKVV)

Semester courses winter semester 2024/25

07. October 2024 - 31. January 2025, 2 x 90 minutes per week/various appointments (for dates check eKVV)

Intensive courses summer semester 2025

12. March 2025 - 02. April 2025

Semester courses summer semester 2025

07. April 2025 - 18. July 2025

 

German Courses for international students and employees in English speaking study programs and contexts

Join the international learning community at PunktUm!

Even if you are able to conduct most of your studies in English or your native language, a basic command of German may be helpful during the course of your stay in Germany. At PunktUm, you can select from a number of different German language courses to achieve this.
PunktUm consists of a team of dedicated staff members who are well-educated to train the small groups of participants and who will provide assistance in overcoming language and cultural barriers which may arise when studying in a foreign country in a foreign language.

Who is eligible?

The following people are eligible for our German courses:

  • Students/PhD students of Bielefeld University in English and multilingual study programmes
  • Employees of Bielefeld University
  • Exchange students (erasmus students, language assistants)
  • Double degree students
  • Family members of the mentioned groups

Exchange students please register in the International Office (erasmus-initiative@uni-bielefeld.de).

 

We offer German courses from A1.1 to C1.2 level.

It is also possible to join after the course has started, except for absolute beginners.

If you do not have a language certificate or you are unsure of your level, please take our free placement test for finding out your current level.


If you find out that the language level is not suitable for you, the course can be adjusted at short notice, even after the course has been started.


The placement tests for the winter semester 2024/25 intensive courses will take place on September 9th, 10th and 11th at 11 a.m. in room C0-272.

Placement test for Erasmus/Cooperation students only on September 10th at 4pm in H3.

Registration is not necessary.

You will then find the results here on the homepage on the following day.

Our courses are free of charge for:

  • Students/PhD students of Bielefeld University
  • Employees of Bielefeld University
  • Exchange students (erasmus students, language assistants)
  • Double degree students
Relatives of university members are also entitled to take part in the courses for a fee.

As soon as we have received your registration you will be sent an invoice. Payment is due within 10 days after receiving the invoice. By payment of the course fee your registration will become binding.

FAQ

The registration for the German courses takes place via the eKVV.

The German courses at PunktUm are only open to students in English and multilingual study programmes, employees as well as to cooperation and double degree students of Bielefeld University. All language courses are free of charge for the target groups mentioned above.

Relatives of the above-mentioned persons can also attend our German courses. In this case, they have to pay the course fees (290 €) themselves.

No, if you would like to attend a German course and are not enrolled at Bielefeld University, you should contact a language school.

PunktUm offers study preparation courses for prospective students with refugee status. If you belong to this target group, please feel free to contact: refugees@uni-bielefeld.de.

A few places can be allocated to interested persons without refugee status. Also for this, please contact: refugees@uni-bielefeld.de.

Yes, please write us an email with the following information: Name, last name (as it appears on your passport/ID card), date of birth, and private email address. We also need your proof of status at Bielefeld University. Relatives have to pay a fee for the courses: 290€ per course.

No, the credit points (ECTS) and, if applicable, the grade will be uploaded in eKVV on your transcript of records. This is already considered an official document. You may get a certificate only if you do not have a matriculation number (and transcript of records) at Bielefeld University, as is the case with post-docs or family members.
