The Faculty of Technology at Bielefeld University has a vacancy for a

Professorship (W2) for Distributed and Cloud Computing

to be filled at the earliest opportunity.

We are looking for a person who will further develop current, emerging and future concepts, technologies and architectures in the field and focus not only on basic research in these areas but also on their practical applicability. Applications are particularly welcome from researchers who wish to consider applications in areas such as bio- or cheminformatics.

Prerequisites for the position are a qualified doctorate/Phd studies in computer science or an equivalent degree, an internationally visible research record in the field of the advertised position, as well as the ability to teach at university level.

The Faculty of Technology offers numerous opportunities for cooperation with researchers in the fields of Informatics in the Natural Science, Cognitive Interaction Systems, Robotics and AI, among others. Together with the Bielefeld Institute for Bioinformatics Infrastructure (BIBI), it is involved in various national and international consortia for the provision and further development of research (data) infrastructures for the life sciences (de.NBI, ELIXIR, NFDI). Participation in these activities is desirable.

In addition to the undergraduate Computer Science degree programmes, the Faculty of Technology offers (international) degree programmes with a focus on Bioinformatics and Genome Research, Intelligent Systems, as well as (together with other Faculties) Data Science and Biomechatronics.

The post holder will be expected to participate in teaching in the Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes in Bioinformatics, Intelligent Systems and Data Science, including undergraduate teaching (e.g. in the field of Practical Computer Science).

The teaching in the undergraduate programme takes place in German. Active participation in the self-administration of the Faculty of Technology is expected.

The requirements for employment are in accordance with § 36 HG NRW.
