At Bielefeld University, scientists representing a wide variety of perspectives work together in an interdisciplinary way to ensure innovative research and teaching at the highest level. Bielefeld University comprises 14 faculties, including natural and technical sciences and medicine, with about 3,500 employees and 25,000 students. Close cooperation between the School of Public Health, the OWL Faculty of Medicine and other faculties at the Bielefeld location makes it possible to understand the provision of healthcare as an interdisciplinary cross-sectional topic.
The future professor should actively participate in the development and design of a future-oriented healthcare and nursing system with an explicit public health orientation at Bielefeld University in collaboration with other faculties (e.g. the Faculty of Technology) as well as external partners (e.g. regional practice partners, clinics, Bethel). We are looking for a person who is broadly positioned, interdisciplinary and interprofessional and who wants to contribute to the strategic development of the research field. The candidate should have a proven track record in the field of nursing research or long-term care research. Research topics with high public health relevance or relevance for nursing science are expected. Possible areas of focus include (new) care models to ensure nursing care (including in rural areas), prevention and health promotion in nursing, digitalisation, interprofessionalism and quality as well as research on integrated and/or neighbourhood-oriented care.
The future professor
The W1/W2 professorship will be located in Working Group 6 “Health Services Research and Nursing Science”.
The future professor will participate in teaching for all degree programmes at the School of Public Health. It is expected that they candidate will be able to offer courses in German. Applicants for whom German is not a native language should be able to teach courses in German within three years. Extensive experience in academic teaching and a commitment to academic self-administration are also expected. Management skills are desirable. The teaching load comprises a total of 9 LVS in accordance with § 3 (1) (1) LVV.
Recruitment requirements for the advertised professorship are a completed university degree in a relevant field and the further academic achievements outlined in § 36 of the Higher Education Act of North Rhine-Westphalia (HG-NRW).
The appointment as a W1 professor is initially limited to 3 years, with the possibility of extension for a further 3 years after a positive interim evaluation. In the event of a positive tenure evaluation in the last year, the subsequent transfer to a permanent W2 professorship is planned. In the case of a direct appointment to a permanent W2 professorship, additional academic achievements are required, which are assessed exclusively and comprehensively in the appointment procedure
The interim/tenure evaluations are regulated in the statutes on quality assurance for professorships with tenure track (TT). Tenure-track professorships are firmly established at Bielefeld University as an equal appointment option. Tenure-track professors are offered a target group-specific personnel development programme that provides support during the arrival phase and in preparation for the interim and tenure evaluation.
