Join us in shaping the new Medical School OWL at Bielefeld University:
Future-oriented, interprofessional and strong in research and teaching

The Medical School OWL at Bielefeld University intends to fill a

Professorship for Translational Gynaecological Health Services Research (W1 TT W2)

at Klinikum Lippe as soon as possible. The position is associated with a permanent senior physician position at the Department of Gynaecology and obstetrics.

The Medical School OWL and the University Medical Center OWL (UMC OWL), with Klinikum Bielefeld, Evangelisches Klinikum Bethel (EvKB), and Klinikum Lippe, are an innovative medical location under development. We are seeking individuals who embrace this development process as an opportunity to actively create and shape research, teaching, patient care, and organization in collaboration with us. You will be involved in implementing our model study program in human medicine and can contribute innovative ideas for teaching. Our career and research support programs, aimed at interdisciplinary cooperation, provide a wide range of development opportunities.

Qualifications required for the position include:

  • specialist qualification for Gynaecology and Obstetrics – subspecialty in Gynaecological Oncology
  • qualified, relevant doctorate
  • promising scientific achievements demonstrated through relevant publications
  • experience in translational gynaecological health services research
  • comprehensive clinical experience in the field
  • experience in robot-assisted oncological surgery
  • experience in participating in a molecular tumour board
  • compatibility with the research profile of the Medical School OWL
  • expertise in innovative teaching formats in the subject to be represented
  • active participation in the equality-oriented promotion of young scientists

Desirable qualifications:

  • initial experience in the acquisition and organization of third-party funding or projects
  • experience in a clinical leadership role
  • qualification in specialty-specific genetic counselling and successful completion of the curriculum on Familial Breast and Ovarian Cancer

As the holder of this position, you will be responsible, in a leading role, for the complex surgical and conservative treatment of gynaecological tumour diseases, including robot-assisted oncological surgery. You will coordinate and manage the interdisciplinary tumour board and establish a molecular tumour board with the aim of systematically translating molecular diagnostic findings into individualised therapy decisions and investigating their implementation in standard care. Another key focus is on translational gynaecological health services research. You will develop and evaluate innovative, evidence-based care concepts. This includes the establishment and management of clinical study centers as well as the implementation of translational studies with an explicit reference to health services research.

The Department is integrated into the Oncology Centre at Klinikum Lippe and thereby provides a structured environment for the investigation of interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral care models in close cooperation with physicians in private practice. The surgical spectrum covers the entire specialist field of gynaecology and gynaecological oncology including da Vinci- and ICG/NIR-techniques, which are to be scientifically investigated with regard to quality of care, outcome parameters and implementation processes.

We expect close collaboration – particularly within the framework of profile-building collaborative projects – with other departments of the UMC OWL, other faculties of Bielefeld University, and the medical community (private practices) in the region. Therefore, we are seeking an individual with leadership experience and expertise in the entire field, along with excellent communication and coordination skills.

Klinikum Lippe expressly encourages women to apply. There is a wide range of options for implementing family-friendly working conditions. In addition to our in-house daycare centers, we offer vacation care, reintegration during and after parental leave, support in finding daycare services, and assistance in the event of relatives requiring care. All possibilities and variants of part-time employment are offered and agreed upon jointly between the physician and the management of Klinikum Lippe.

The following applies to appointments:

The duties of the professorship will be carried out within the framework of a public-law employment relationship with the University (no civil service status).
The appointment requirements are governed by § 36 HG. The duties within the scope of clinical care are regulated by a contract with Klinikum Lippe.

Applications from qualified individuals with severe disabilities and those with equivalent disabilities are strongly encouraged.
