Perspective networking / interdisciplinarity

Democracy and society", "sustainability", "consumption", "work", "power", "health", "identity, sex and gender", "technology, people and society" are central content areas in Integrated Studies for Primary Education ("Sachunterricht"). These cannot be developed solely from the perspective of individual scientific disciplines. In order to open up multiple perspectives on these content areas in the study of the subject of Integrated Studies for Primary Education (and later on in the subject of primary education), it is necessary to deal not only with the knowledge, debates and approaches of the various scientific disciplines involved in the subject of primary education, but also with the diverse learning conditions of primary school pupils. In this way, it is possible to mutually relate experiences and ideas from the world of life with scientific interpretations.

The study of Integrated Studies for Primary Education ("Sachunterricht") at Bielefeld University therefore has a strong interdisciplinary orientation. Interdisciplinary approaches are systematically developed in teaching and also in the approval of courses, in that content areas are conceptually dealt with in an interdisciplinary manner in courses from a subject-specific and didactic point of view.
