EvAGU — S3 Guideline: Evidence-based epidemiological management of infectious disease outbreaks in collective accommodation settings
In Germany, large numbers of people live in collective accommodation facilities. Residents include, for example, individuals experiencing homelessness or people seeking asylum. Due to overcrowded living conditions, the risk of disease outbreaks is elevated. Containing outbreaks requires cross-sectoral collaboration between the public health service, outpatient care providers, the facilities themselves, and those affected.
As part of the development of the AWMF S3 Guideline "Evidence-based epidemiological management of infectious disease outbreaks in collective accommodation settings", funded through the Innovation Fund of the Joint Federal Commission, the Review Unit at Bielefeld University is responsible, as a consortium partner, for methodology and evidence synthesis.
The aim of the guideline is to develop evidence- and consensus-based recommendations for action that enable effective and resource-efficient responses to outbreaks in collective accommodation settings, to reduce secondary infections and prevent under-, over-, and inappropriate provision of healthcare services. The guideline development process with the public health service is also intended to contribute to greater harmonisation of the currently heterogeneous approaches employed across settings.
