Policy-related evidence

In today's fast-paced world, there is an immense need for scientific evidence among decision-makers in politics and the social system. Dynamic political events and developments often lead to rapid decisions. Conventional scientific publication and dissemination procedures usually lag behind the relevant social events, such that scientific findings (if any) only feed belatedly into political discourse, but do not substantially influence it.

The AG 2 Population Medicine and Health Care Research department pursues the goal of synthesising timely and policy-oriented evidence on selected topics in order to inform political decision-making processes.

For this purpose, mainly rapid reviews and scoping reviews, but also systematic reviews are carried out in order to summarise qualitative and quantitative scientific evidence. Identified gaps in research are filled by primary studies.

When selecting topics, political priorities are also taken into account in order to specifically consider the evidence needs of users.
