Research Areas

Working Group 4 focuses on four central thematic areas:

Gender and Health: Men, women, and transgender individuals have distinct health needs and draw upon different resources to maintain health. The department’s projects explore gender-specific potentials for prevention, examine how communication can be tailored to different genders, investigate the diverse health needs across gender identities, and analyze how the healthcare system can respond appropriately to gender differences.

Health Communication: Health communication encompasses the transmission and exchange of knowledge, opinions, and emotions related to health and illness. Our research examines how health topics are presented in the media, how media is utilized to disseminate health information, and the effects of these processes. The insights gained are applied to enhance prevention and health promotion through a range of information formats and communication strategies.

Evaluation and Quality Development in Prevention and Health Promotion: There is increasing demand for prevention and health promotion initiatives to demonstrate measurable impacts on population health and health-related behaviors. Our projects investigate methods for evaluating the effectiveness of interventions, including those in complex settings, and support practitioners in implementing high-quality initiatives. A particular focus is placed on addressing the needs of socially disadvantaged populations.

Child and Adolescent Health: The health of children and adolescents is a core focus of Working Group 4. We conduct projects addressing prevention, health communication, and healthcare delivery for children and youth.
