Functional transcranial Doppler Sonography
Funktionelle transkranielle Dopplersonographie
Implementation of the functional transcranial Doppler (fTCD) ultrasound device to determine language lateralization by measuring velocity differences of blood flow between both hemispheres. First, a free-moving ultrasound probe is used to determine the appropriate position on each side to reach the respective middle cerebral artery.
Later, the subject wears a head-gear with a lateral ultrasound probe (white) on each side positioned to detect blood flow in the middle cerebral artery, while the subject listens to language, for example.
