Bielefeld University

Hendrik Lücking is a laboratory manager and academic co-worker in the Medical Assistance Systems working group at the OWL Medical School of Bielefeld University.

After completing his bachelor's degree in Cognitive Informatics, he analysed the discourse on structural racism in German Twitter (now X) in his master's thesis in cooperation with Empirical Social Research. Here he used natural language processing methods, more precisely historical word embeddings together with concept drift, to investigate whether there was an increase in debates about structural racism before and after the George Floyd protests.
His professional experience also includes developing a research data platform at the University Hospital Bielefeld Mitte and developing a supporting app to promote diversity reflexivity among daycare centre staff. The latter project, DiSiKit, was based at the Institute for Information Management (ifib) Bremen, where he worked as an academic co-worker.
