At this year's Appearance Matters conference in Bristol's historic City Hall, Jana Stucke presented the findings of our qualitative ichthyosis study in a talk entitled "The Impact of Visible Differences on Psychosocial Burden and Participation in Skin Diseases: A Qualitative Study in Ichthyosis". Alina Wacker presented the findings of a qualitative study as a poster presentation: "I look in the mirror and get scared: Stigmatisation Experiences and Body Image in Cutaneous T-Cell Lymphoma Patients: A Qualitative Study ."
The main themes of the congress were body image, visible differences, appearance-based stigma, health education and interventions.

On 5 March, we were guests at the 52nd Annual Meeting of the German Society for Dermatological Research (ADF) and had the opportunity to present our IchthyCare healthcare research study in the Translational Dermatological Genetics working group.
Our presentation entitled "Invisible Burden over Visible Disease - a mixed-method study on disease-related impairment, participation barriers and care experiences in ichthyosis" - in addition to the many exciting contributions from basic and clinical-translational research - above all took a look at the reality of life for patients with ichthyosis.
Our study focuses on disease-related burdens, barriers to participation and experiences of care. Such perspectives are important in order to better understand what needs and challenges patients experience in their everyday lives - and how care can be organised in such a way that it actually reaches them.
We were very pleased with the interested questions, the lively discussion and the new contacts.

From 27 to 31 March, Professor Sabine Steinke was a guest at the Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology Association and was able to present our CTCL study in the form of a poster: "Stigmatisation Experiences and Psychosocial Burden in Cutaneous T-Cell Lymphoma Patients: A Qualitative Study".

Prof. Steinke and her research assistants attended the International Congress of the European Academy of Dermatology & Venerology from 17 to 20 September 2025. Ms Wacker and Ms Stucke presented their research projects and current findings in the form of e-posters. The CTCL project entitled "Quality of Life and Unmet Needs in Cutaneous T-Cell Lymphoma Patients: A Qualitative Exploration of Care Experiences" and the ichthyosis project entitled "Understanding the impact of ichthyosis: a qualitative study on disease-related impairment, participation barriers, and care experiences".

Prof Steinke and Ms Wacker attended the 35th Skin Cancer Congress of the Working Group for Dermatological Oncology in Essen and Ms Wacker presented a contribution in the form of an e-poster entitled "Care of people with cutaneous T-cell lymphoma in Germany: a qualitative analysis from the perspective of patients and doctors".
