The start-up fund medical research supports research collaborations between researchers at the University Medical Center OWL (UK OWL), the Herz- und Diabeteszentrum OWL (HDZ) and scientists at Bielefeld University.

Innovative research projects are funded, on the basis of which the initiation of third-party funded projects - in particular collaborative projects - in the subject areas of the medical research profile is promoted.

Objectives

• Promotion of innovative medical and medically relevant - in particular translational - research projects in preparation for third-party funding applications
• Supporting research collaborations between Bielefeld University, UK OWL and HDZ
• Promotion of profile-building research projects to strengthen the ability to collaborate
• Funding of pilot projects for early-career scientists to support the development of their own profile
