Special Needs Education and Leisure Time Activities: Bielefeld Study (fabi)

Introduction

Do children and adolescents in Germany receive the professional support they need? Does everybody know about support offers? How are factors like the place of residence and type of school related to participation in support offers? Currently, not all children and adolescents who may need professional support actually participate in available offers. To optimize chances and life perspectives of children and adolescents with particular needs but also with particular strength, these questions have to be answered.

In the study "fabi" (short for "Förder- und Freizeitangebote: Bielefelder Studie"; "Special needs education and leisure time activities: Bielefeld study") we build a data base to provide answers to these important questions.

We contact children, adolescents and their parents from Bielefeld, Lippe and Hamm via school and interview them with a questionnaire. Since we are also interested in changes over time, we will interview the same families with one year gap.

Here you find information about us, the development of the study and most important findings.

News
