Bielefeld University is part of the NEOLAiA network, an association of nine young, dynamically developing higher education institutions in various European regions beyond the metropolises. With a regional focus, NEOLAiA aims to create an open and inclusive educational and social environment that sponsors equity at the university and in European society as a whole.
Partner meeting advances development of the degree programme
NEOstaff Week within the European University Alliance NEOLAiA. More than 30 staff members from all NEOLAiA partner universities took part in the NEOstaff Week at Bielefeld University from May 4 to 8. They exchanged ideas, learned from one another, and identified best practices regarding diversity and inclusion across all nine NEOLAiA locations.
To coincide with Europe Day 2016, the Student Adivsory Group in Bielefeld honoured the competition entries with an exhibition at Bielefeld University.
In May, Europe Day provides an opportunity to reflect on Europe and its achievements. NEOLAiA opens up new avenues for students to gain international experience. The focus is on innovative mobility formats – including so-called ‘blended intensive programmes’ and summer schools – which are deliberately different from familiar formats such as semesters or internships abroad. Three students share their experiences in an interview.

Within the Alliance, Bielefeld University coordinates the topic area "Inclusion and Diversity" and thus Work Package 3 "Diversity & Inclusion". The heads of the work package are Professor Dr Michaela Vogt and Dr Amelie Labusch.
