The call aims at personalities with an already established national and international profile who can represent the field of expertise in research, teaching, and patient care in its entirety.
The prerequisites are
As the holder of the position, you will manage the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Neuroradiology of the EvKB at the Campus Bielefeld-Bethel of the UMC EWL and develop it further in terms of university medicine.
We expect membership of the governing body of the university's cross-faculty and cross- departmental Core Facility MR Imaging (3T research MRI, 7T MRI optional) as well as committed participation in its establishment and the development of a relevant research program. Prior experience with novel MRI technologies is therefore desirable.
In particular, the broad clinical foci of the Neurocenter (neuro-oncology, neurovascular medicine, neuro-immunology, neuro-degeneration and epilepsy medicine) should be addressed scientifically and conceptually. In addition, the holder of the position is expected to develop projects on the topics of "Big Data", "Artificial Intelligence" and "Radiogenomics". In this context, it is desirable to be able to connect to and cooperate with the existing working groups of the faculty and those currently being established, in particular the "Clinical Radiology" working group. "Data Science" is also anchored as one of the focus of research at the Medical School.
Neuroradiology and Radiology are currently integrated in a joint model. In Neuroradiology, approx. 15,000 cross-sectional imaging examinations, approx. 230 thrombectomies and approx. 80 intracranial aneurysm treatments are performed annually. The Centre for Imaging and Intervention is equipped with a total of 15 specialist/ senior physician positions and 11 positions for doctors in training.
As the holder of the position you will also cover the clinical spectrum of care of the various neurological special outpatient clinics and the neurosurgical Medical Care Center, in addition to the advertised field of expertise. Interdisciplinary work in the context of the other university neurological subjects is also required, taking into account the integrative cooperation with the Department of Nuclear Medicine. The subject area also requires very close cooperation with the other organ- specific, surgical and conservative disciplines. In particular, participation in the stroke center and the supraregional trauma center is necessary.
The ability to work in a team and to think strategically with regard to the further expansion of a supra-regionally active neuro-center with national and supra-national significance is a prerequisite. We expect networking with other departments of the UMC EWL, other faculties of Bielefeld University, and the medical community in private practice in the region. Accordingly, we are looking for a personality with leadership experience and expertise in the entire field and excellent communication and coordination skills.

A private-law employment contract with the University is envisaged for the performance of the duties of the professorship. The requirements for employment follow § 36 HG. The tasks within patient care, including the right to liquidation, will be regulated via a contract for chief physicians with the EvKB.
