The Medical School OWL at Bielefeld University intends to fill at the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology at the Klinikum Lippe a

Professorship for Interventional Radiology (W2 TT W2 / W2)

at the earliest possible date. Thereby associated is the position as senior physician at the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology, Devision head Interventional Radiology.

At Bielefeld University, an innovative Medical School with an interdisciplinary individual and population medicine orientation and the University Medical Center East Westphalia Lippe (UMC EWL), with the Klinikum Bielefeld, Evangelisches Klinikum Bethel (EvKB), and Klinikum Lippe as holders, are established. We are looking for personalities who want to seize the development situation and its challenges as a chance and actively participate in research, teaching, patient care, and organization. We offer an exciting environment that opens up a wide range of opportunities. You will be significantly involved in the further planning and implementation of the model study program in human medicine (according to ÄApprO), as well as in implementing the "clinician" and "advanced clinician scientist" programs, and you will have the opportunity to apply innovative concepts in teaching. At the same time, you will take on a significant role in developing an interconnected, inter/nationally competitive research profile "Medicine for people with disabilities and chronic diseases". The call aims at personalities with an already promisingly profile (W2 TT W2) or with a promisingly national and international profile (W2) in an early career stage, who can represent the field of expertise in research, teaching, and patient care in its entirety.

The prerequisites are

  • specialist qualification in radiology
  • relevant doctorate, and additionally scientific achievements according to § 36 paras. 1; no. 4 HG NRW
  • proven expertise in interventional radiology, ideally evidenced by relevant certifications
  • promisingly (W2 TT W2) or excellent (W2) scientific achievements reflected in corresponding publications and third-party funding
  • connectivity to the research profile of the Medical School OWL
  • extensive teaching experience and experience with innovative teaching formats in the subject to be represented
  • experience and active involvement in the equality-oriented promotion of young scientists.

The Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology provides the full range of radiological services for the patients of the Klinikum Lippe. At the department, an academic center for imaging diagnostics and image-guided therapy in the OWL region is being established with scientific focus on integrated diagnostics, personalized precision diagnostics and translational imaging research. Within the devision Interventional Radiology to be established at the department, individual focal points and a further expansion of the spectrum are desirabled. Within the framework of the advertised professorship, a scientific focus for image-guided therapy, including its teaching within the framework of innovative teaching concepts, is to be created at the Medical School OWL. There are starting points for further development of interventional-angiographic and minimally invasive, percutaneous procedures for diagnostics and treatment, with a special focus on robotics and artificial intelligence. In addition, the role of interventional radiology as a component of an increasingly ambulatory care landscape can be researched in the network of the hospitals of the UMC OWL and in cooperation with the academic practice network.

We expect networking with other departments of the UMC EWL, other faculties of Bielefeld University, and the medical community in private practice in the region. Accordingly, we are looking for a personality with clinical expertise in the entire field and excellent communication and coordination skills.
