The Faculty of Psychology and Sport Science at Bielefeld University seeks to appoint the following position as soon as possible:

Professor (W3) of Educational Psychology

The successful candidate will represent the field of educational psychology in research and teaching. They must have a profile in research and teaching that corresponds to the field of educational psychology, have a proven track record of relevant, high quality, internationally visible empirical research, and have successfully acquired third-party funding. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the profile development of Bielefeld University and the department. Connections to the research initiatives of the Department of Psychology (e.g. on the topic of “Studying Dynamics of Physical Activity and Psychological Processes in Intensive Longitudinal Data” and/or on the topic of “Pathways from Trauma and Adversity to Mental Health”) are an advantage. Participation in the Bielefeld School of Education is desirable.

The focus of teaching is on the bachelor’s and master’s programmes in the Department of Psychology. In the master’s programmes, a leading role in the programme in Applied Psychology: Diagnostics, Counselling and Training is expected. In addition, the successful candidate is expected to take over the management of the educational psychology counselling centre. Participation in teaching the psychological components of educational sciences is desirable.

The department welcomes activities in the field of open science and reproducibility. The ability and willingness to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration, experience in promoting young talent and developing curricula, participation in self-administration, proven skills/further training in university didactics, personnel management and gender competence are desirable. The faculty considers gender equality to be an important task, and the future holder of the position will contribute to its implementation. Applicants are asked to take gender-related aspects into account in research and teaching as well as in the promotion of young academics in a manner appropriate to the subject area.

According to § 36 HG NRW, the requirements for appointment to the advertised professorship are a doctorate and additional academic achievements, which will be evaluated exclusively and comprehensively in the appointment procedure.
