The Medical School OWL at Bielefeld University intends to fill a
in the Department of Radiation Therapy and Radio-Oncology at the Campus Klinikum Bielefeld as soon as possible. The professorship involves assuming management responsibility in the position of senior physician.
The Medical School OWL and the University Medical Center OWL (UMC OWL), with Klinikum Bielefeld, Evangelisches Klinikum Bethel (EvKB), and Klinikum Lippe, are an innovative medical location under development. We are seeking individuals who embrace this development process as an opportunity to actively create and shape research, teaching, patient care, and organization in collaboration with us. You will be significantly involved in implementing our model study program in human medicine and can contribute innovative ideas for teaching. As the holder of this position – in a senior physician role with management responsibility – you will support the clinical, personnel, and economic development of the Department of Radiation Therapy and Radio-Oncology at the Campus Klinikum Bielefeld in a specialist and interdisciplinary context. In this role, you will also be involved in the MVZ for radiotherapy and ensure that the hospital fulfils its cross-sectoral care task. The current range of treatments offered by the Department of Radiation Therapy and Radio-Oncology includes conventional and intensity-modulated teletherapy (3D techniques, IMRT and VMAT, DIBH) as well as intracavitary and interstitial brachytherapy (https://www.klinikumbielefeld.de/ausstattung.html).
You will represent the field of Radiation Therapy, with a focus on the development of new techniques in research and teaching. A particular focus of your scientific work is the further development of translational research approaches that bridge the gap between preclinical model research, clinical studies, and innovative treatment technology. The aim of this research is to develop and evaluate novel and individualized therapy concepts in tumor treatment through the close integration of clinical radiation oncology, radiation biology and medical physics. Furthermore, the participation in interdisciplinary research networks is expected (including the collaboration with the following fields: Hematology and Oncology, Physics, and Computer Science at Bielefeld University).
We expect close collaboration with other departments of the UMC OWL, other faculties of Bielefeld University, and the medical community (private practices) in the region. Therefore, we are seeking an individual with leadership experience and expertise in the entire field, along with excellent communication and coordination skills.

The duties of the professorship will be carried out within the framework of a public-law employment relationship with the University (no civil service status). The appointment requirements are governed by § 36 HG. The duties within the scope of clinical care are regulated by a contract with Klinikum Bielefeld gem. GmbH.
