Mentoring

In the mentoring programme, doctoral students exchange ideas with employees from non-university organisations and institutions. Questions about the possibilities and prerequisites for non-university careers are clarified.

Programme Elements

The BGHS offers five positions each for mentoring in 2020, 2021 and 2022. The program consists of the following parts:

  • Mentoring-Tandem: Doctoral students find a mentor in a non-university organization. Mentee and Mentor will enter into a mentoring agreement and conduct monthly career planning interviews over a period of six months.
  • Peer Mentoring: The mentees support each other in their career planning. Over a period of 9 months, they exchange questions and wishes for their professional careers.
  • Accompanying programme: Mentoring is flanked by a series of workshops on non-university careers. The programme starts with an introductory workshop in January and ends with a final workshop in September. The timetable for the mentoring programme can be found here.

Application and Participation

Applicants must send the application form until November 30th to bghs@uni-bielefeld.de. The call for applications is available here. After reviewing all the application forms, the applicants will be interviewed by the programme management and the BGHS management.
