Medical Faculty

Currently a new medical faculty is being established at Bielefeld University. First students will pick up their medical studies in 2021.

Medicine has, more than most sciences, become data-driven within the last fifty years. Hence, BiCDaS is looking forward to the new challenges medical research at Bielefeld will bring up. Particularly, we expect medicine to act as a player in the field of big data, as many recording techniques commonly used in medical research produce large amounts of data.

As the research at the medical faculty in general can be expected to develop many interface points with existing research at Bielefeld University, we are confident that we can draw on quite substantial experience from data science challanges in related field such as live sciences, health science, sport science and psychology.

BiCDaS aspires to support research and teaching at the new faculty from a data-focussed perspective.
