Equipment lending

The equipment lending service includes a versatile and extensive range of devices and accessories that enable media didactic support through digital and analogue media content in courses. Our offer for teaching staff, instructors, lecturers and their students ranges from production equipment (cameras with tripods and video lights, photo cameras and sound recorders) to presentation equipment (video, slide and film projectors, screens, large screens) to a variety of cables and adapters needed to connect devices and much more.

XR

In BITS SPACE, the existing XR offering from the Digital Learning Lab's Making Media Space is being expanded and improved. Here we enable users to try out immersive settings for a wide range of projects ending dates. In virtual reality(VR), for example, any places and objects can be displayed and visited. In augmented reality(AR), the real world is supplemented by the projection of digital objects and elements, thus enabling an extended perception of reality. The aim of game-based learning or serious games is to combine games and learning opportunities.
With XR, BITS SPACE offers the opportunity to design immersive teaching/learning scenarios and thus promote new approaches to learning.

Make

The digital production offerings of the Digital Learning Lab's Making Media Space are being consolidated and modernised in the BITS SPACE. Users have access to several 3D printers for their individual projects ending dates. We support digital production and provide the necessary software for modelling digital models and scanning real objects (e.g. for virtual reality). Various printing processes can be trialled for the production of everything from simple models to detailed objects.
In addition to 3D printing, we also offer the option of textile processing of digital design objects. Users can thus familiarise themselves with all steps of the production process, from the idea to the designed graphic file to the embroidered object, and relate each step to their project or event. The focus is on the further processing of graphics and images with special software, which is deepened through trial and error.

Design

Design can be used in many projects ending dates. Possibilities include:

• Posters, flyers, postcards, PowerPoint presentations
• animations
• Illustrations, comics, etc.
• Objects for explanatory videos (e.g. laying technique)
• 3D objects, embroidery motifs, paper craft motifs
• Gaming, virtual and augmented reality

At BITS SPACE, design projects can be realised on high-performance workstations with creative and productive software. There is also the option of borrowing graphics tablets or working analogue in a creative environment. We support all types of design projects with consulting and introductory appointments or as part of workshops and seminar support.

Podcast

Here, students, teaching staff and university employees can easily produce their own podcasts or other audio productions with several speakers in a specially equipped room. The equipment is easy to use and after a short briefing, nothing stands in the way of your own podcast. We are of course always on hand to provide support and can also help with options for publishing the podcast.

Sound

In the sound area of BITS SPACE, users have all the tools they need to produce professional voice recordings, binaural sound recordings, music and sounds. High-quality audio equipment, a professional voice booth, several synthesisers and a wide range of software for creating and editing studio-quality recordings are available for this purpose. We support and advise users in all aspects and phases of audio production.

Clip

Here, BITS SPACE users can create their own video productions in a small, easy-to-use studio with professional lighting and camera technology. This is particularly suitable for presentations or shorter videos, as well as educational video series or other creative projects. The equipment can be operated independently after a short briefing so that you can concentrate fully on your own projects.

Studio

A new video studio for video productions such as interviews, video podcasts and magazine programmes with up to three camera angles was financed and set up in BITS SPACE with funding from MKW to improve and expand the technical equipment of the previous video studio in the Making Media Space of the Digital Learning Lab.

Our team is responsible for the technical realisation of the professional recordings. The professionally illuminated studio area can be supplemented with background lighting in different colours. Alternatively, an open area is also available for various studio settings and set-ups. A teleprompter is available for reading scripts. High-quality audio for voice recordings is ensured by clip-on microphones.

The white coving is also suitable for professional photo shoots. In addition to high-quality portrait shots, staff, people or objects can also be photographed against a neutral background and then easily cropped.
