Monique Koke completed her Bachelor and Master of Arts in Linguistics at the University of Paderborn. In her master's thesis, she conducted empirical research on the topic: "'But what does a duck do? What does a duck look like?' Gesture establishment and reduction in the play context of 4-year-old children." Since 2023, she has been a research assistant in the Medical Assistance Systems working group at the OWL Faculty of Medicine at Bielefeld University. As part of the BRAVO cooperation project, she is investigating what explanations of assistive technologies for people with disabilities look like in a counselling context and is looking at the question of how self-assessment of the usability of assistive technologies is influenced by explanations. Since December 2023, she has been associated with the RTG of TRR 318 "Constructing Explainability".
