The Medical Research Day of the Medical School OWL provides the opportunity to present current research projects and supports the exchange and networking among researchers of the Medical School OWL and the University Medical Center OWL, as well as beyond.
Research Day Medicine 2025
The Research Day medicine 2025 will take place on Tuesday, 11 March 2025, throughout the day at the X Building on the Bielefeld University campus. The program includes lecture sessions, poster walks, and presentations of core facilities. Additionally, advisory and support services as well as networking opportunities will be offered.

Registration for the 2025 Medical Research Day on 11 March 2025
Registrations for the Research Day Medicine will be accepted until 31 January 2025. No further registrations can be accommodated after this date.
Participants have the opportunity to submit either presentations or posters. For presentation submissions, the title, abstract, and keywords must be provided in English. Presentations can be delivered in either German or English.
Research presentations are allocated approximately 15 minutes, with a maximum of two presentations per research group allowed.
We particularly encourage the active participation of early-career researchers.
Childcare services will be available during the Research Day. If required, registration for childcare must be submitted to the Research Office by 18 February 2025 at the latest.
As the number of on-site participants is limited, registration via the online form is mandatory.

The Research Day Medicine 2024 will take place all day on 20 March 2024 in the X building on the campus of Bielefeld University. The programme includes presentations, poster sessions, a presentation of DFG (the German Research Foundation) funding opportunities as well as information and interdisciplinary exchange formats.

The Research Day Medicine 2024 took place on 20 March 2024, all day on the ground floor of the X Building at Bielefeld University. The program featured lecture sessions, poster tours, presentations on DFG funding opportunities, and various informational and networking formats. Approximately 270 researchers at all career stages took advantage of the opportunity for interdisciplinary exchange—including members of the Faculty of Medicine OWL, UK OWL, HDZ, and other university faculties.

Bielefeld University The Research Day Medicine 2023 took place all day on 29 March 2023 on the premises of CITEC- Cognitive Interaction Technology, Campus north of Bielefeld University. The Research Day programme offered researchers presentations, poster and methods sessions as well as other information and exchange formats in the foyer. The opportunity for interdisciplinary exchange between researchers from the Medical School OWL and the UK OWL with the other Faculties of the University was used by around 200 researchers at all career levels.

- Research Day Medicine 2022
Bielefeld University The Research Day Medicine 2022 took place on 17 October 2022 on the premises of the Center for Interdisciplinary Research (ZiF). Prof Claudia Hornberg, MD, Dean of the Medical School OWL, opened the first Research Day in front of around 120 participants. In short presentations, the working groups of the Medical School OWL presented their fields of research and opportunities for cooperation. Prof Kerstin Krieglstein, MD, Rector of the University of Freiburg, gave a keynote speech on the structure of the Faculty.
