Currently, 36 university medical centers and other partner institutions are represented in the Network of University Medicine funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. It was founded in 2020 with the aim of pooling the expertise and resources of scientists from university medicine across Germany and coordinating research activities in order to rapidly gain knowledge to combat the Covid-19 pandemic.
The NUM is now also conducting research projects on other diseases.
Bielefeld University with the Medical School and the University Medical Center OWL is a member of the NUM, coordinated by the Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin.
On this page you will find all the important information about the NUM, the projects in which this location is involved and contact information.
The long-term goal of the NUM is to establish sustainable structures that promote cooperative, interdisciplinary collaboration between the network partners beyond the project. The NUM also focuses in particular on establishing a nationwide, comprehensive study and data room for clinical research, optimally preparing the biomedical research landscape for future pandemics and other public health crises and creating a central point of contact for clinical research at national level with rapid access to German university medicine.
Within the Network of University Medicine (NUM), a Local Coordination Unit was established as a decentralised information hub between the national coordination office at Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin and the research projects at each location.
The Local Coordination Unit of this location is located in the dean's office of the Medical School. It is responsible for the overall coordination, communication and administration of the NUM projects for the Medical School and University Medical Center OWL. The Local Coordination Unit is directly linked to the university's research administration and relevant infrastructures. The administration is carried out in cooperation with the research coordinators and the third-party funding management of the three institutions of the University Medical Center OWL.
The Steuerungsgruppe NUM 2.0 meets regularly to coordinate and manage the NUM projects at the location. The members are the project managers of the NUM projects at the location. The Local Coordination Unit is responsible for coordination.
