Study participation (SONA)

SONA is an administration system for study participation. Registration in the SONA system is necessary in order to make appointments for study participation. For students, study participation hours are booked electronically via SONA. External participants can receive remuneration for their participation. Below you will find a link to register for the system as well as information for participants and researchers.

Information on the use of SONA

Information for students of the BSc Psychology programme

You can collect your study participation hours via SONA Study Participation Hours. You can choose from the studies offered here and make appointments. The study participation hours you have collected via SONA can always be viewed, and you will also receive an e-mail each time a booking is made. Important: You must be registered with SONA with your *.uni-bielefeld.de address in order to book study participation hours. 

Information for external participants

Individuals who do NOT wish to receive study participation hours with their study participation, but are monetarily remunerated or participate without remuneration, please note the following aspects:

  • When registering:
    • "Other courses, guests of the university" must be selected under the heading "Courses".
    • A student ID (matriculation number) does not have to be provided
  • Please have your Identity Code ready when participating on site in the lab. You can view it under "My Profile" -> "Identity Code".
  • Monetary remuneration is not available for all studies. The remuneration is indicated in the description of the study. Even studies whose remuneration is indicated in the system with "credits" often offer an alternative (monetary) remuneration (see description of the study).

First Steps - SONA

 

  1. Register with email address
    • Enter data in tabs, user ID/user name can be freely selected
  2. When confirming the email address, the login data will be transmitted.
  3. Login to the SONA page of Bielefeld University
  4. Confirm the privacy policy
  5. Registration is now complete and it is possible to participate in studies:
    • Selecting the green button "View Available Studies" will display all studies in which you can participate.
    • Now you can select a study. By clicking on the study, further details of the study become visible, as well as the possibility to select time slots.
