Partner Universities

The Phoenix Contact Foundation's mobility programme supports study abroad opportunities for students in the Faculty of Engineering, both within and outside Europe. The faculty and the International Office welcome this funding opportunity and strongly encourage students to spend a semester abroad at one of the many partner universities.

A total of two scholarships are awarded per calendar year. The call for applications at Bielefeld University takes place once a year in March. The scholarship can be used in the following academic year, i.e., during the winter or summer semester. The scholarship can be combined with other forms of financial aid and funding.

Eligible Applicants

  • Who is the programme aimed at?

    Regularly enrolled students at theFaculty of Technology(Faculty Portal Page - Bielefeld University) (excluding guest and second students) from the 2nd subject-related semester onwards, Master's students from the 1st subject-related semester onwards.

  • For which countries is the programme available?

    Basically all countries, mobilities are possible within and outside the Erasmus+ programme countries.

Funding

  • What is subsidised and how much is the subsidy?

    Study stays abroad lasting between three and six months.

    A monthly stipend of €500 per month (maximum grant amount: €3,000) is awarded, two-thirds of which is paid out before or during the stay abroad.

  • Combination with other subsidies

    The scholarship can supplement other funding (e.g. Erasmus+) or can be combined. Check whether another scholarship excludes a combination.

    The scholarship must be registered with the responsible office for BAföG abroad. The benefits may be offset there.

Application

  • Prerequisites

    • Enrolment at Bielefeld University during the application and during the entire stay abroad
    • Very good academic performance and qualifications of the applicant typical for the subject
    • Professional and personal relevance of the planned stay
    • Good command of the language of instruction in the host country

     

  • Process

    Applications are submitted via an online form. The link will be activated on this page four weeks before the application deadline.
    Enter your personal details in the form and upload the application documents. A confirmation of receipt will follow automatically.
    Please ensure that all scans are legible (resolution).

  • Documents

    • Letter of motivation
    • Tabular presentation of the planned course of the study visit
    • Admission letter from the host university or other proof that you have been admitted to the programme (e.g. letter of acceptance)
    • Current certificate of enrolment
    • Transcript of Records stating your grade point average (from the examination office)

Selection process

Applications are received by the International Office at Bielefeld University, checked for compliance with formal requirements and forwarded in accordance with data protection regulations. The decision on funding is made by the Foundation.

The selection of applicants and feedback from the Foundation are expected by 15 June. Following this, the funding agreement will be concluded between the Foundation and the student.

All information regarding the funding agreement and its terms and conditions will be provided directly by the Foundation.

There is no legal entitlement to receive a scholarship.
