Outlook

The internationalization of the education market and the related processes of change at the national and institutional level will continue to occupy and change German universities in the coming years. The staff members of the PunktUm project have set themselves the goal of further developing their expertise with regard to solving the subject and academic language requirements for international students and thus contributing to making Bielefeld University even more attractive for internationally mobile students.

Under scientific supervision, PunktUm will continue to develop, test, and critically evaluate concepts for language support for non-native-speaking students, doctoral students, and visiting scholars.

In this context, the further development of the following offers is planned:

  • Expansion of subject-specific offers for students in bachelor's and master's programs
  • Further development of language support for international doctoral students in close cooperation with graduate colleges and international graduate schools
  • Expansion of offerings for international students and visiting scholars in English-language degree programs or research projects
  • Communicating the concepts to DaF students and other interested parties, who can further train themselves within the framework of the project or test and further develop concepts
  • Use of the project for the training and further education of DaF students or the promotion of young academics (through job shadowing, internships, implementation of relevant writing or research projects such as term papers, master's/master's theses or dissertations)

The experience and concepts gained will continue to be made available to other universities or university-related institutions.

Furthermore, the staff will contribute their experience to the debate on improving the chances of success for foreign students.
