As part of the NRWege ins Studium - Integration of Refugees at Universities in NRW programme, Bielefeld University awards scholarships to students with a refugee background. These scholarships are intended to support qualified students at every stage of their studies and promote their academic success at Bielefeld University.

Our aim is to support you in successfully starting and completing your studies.

Full scholarship

The scholarship supports students with a refugee background during their studies at Bielefeld University. The scholarship is only awarded if there is no other way of securing a livelihood . It can be applied for if there is no entitlement to BAföG.

  • Funding amount: max. 1,000 euros per month
  • Duration of funding: one semester (extension possible)

Application procedure

You can apply for a scholarship every year on the following dates

  • from 15 January to 15 February for the summer semester (1st instalment from April)
  • from 15 July to 15 August for the winter semester (1st instalment from October)

You will receive notification of whether your application has been approved approximately one month before the start of the semester (early March or early September).
