Working Productively and Managing Priorities

A Workshop for tenured mid-level academic staff

Trainer: Dr. Taiya Mikisch

Date

28.11.2025 |  09:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. | presence

Description

Mid-level academic staff with a permanent work contract face a variety of responsibilities as well as opportunities. They often need to coordinate with various university divisions (administration, faculties, other institutions), have a variety of operational tasks, and, at the same time, work on advancing their career within the university and contributing to the development of their own work unit. These multiple responsibilities and ambitions can lead to a sense of overwhelm or exhaustion. Here, it can be helpful to gain clarity on one’s own long-term professional goals and at the same time find ways to prioritize one’s own mental and physical long term health.

In this workshop, participants reflect on their current professional situation and their goals. Practical techniques are taught to establish structures and routines that not only support long-term professional goals, but also help to maintain and promote their own mental and physical health.

  • introduction to models to identify long-term goals and intentions

  • body-oriented mindfulness exercises to support stress regulation in everyday life
