
The Faculty of Psychology and Sport Science at Bielefeld University is seeking to fill the following position at the earliest possible date:
The position holder is expected to represent the fields of General, Cognitive, and Experimental psychology in research and teaching. The successful candidate will have a profile in research and teaching in these areas, be distinguished by relevant internationally visible empirical research using experimental methods, and have successfully acquired third-party funding. Knowledge in the field of (functional) magnetic resonance imaging is required, as contribution to the university’s new research facility "Core Facility Neuroimaging" (3T MRI and additional equipment, operational start in 2026) is expected. Knowledge and experience in the area of computational modeling of cognitive and neural processes is a plus. The department also welcomes activities in the area of open science and reproducibility.
The successful candidate is expected to contribute to Bielefeld University’s strategic research development process and to participate in collaborative projects within at least one of the two research lines of the Department of Psychology: "Intelligent Interactive Systems" or "Life Chances". These activities could, for example, be situated in the context of the Joint Institute for Individualisation in a Changing Environment or the central scientific institution "CITEC". We also expect participation in current research initiatives of the Department of Psychology.
The teaching focus is within the BSc programs “Psychology” as well as “Psychotherapy” and the MSc “Experimental Psychology and Neuroscience”.
We expect ability and willingness to collaborate across disciples and to support young researchers. Skills in personnel management and administration, involvement in self-governance including curriculum development, as well as gender competence and skills in university teaching are also required.
