Our goals
It is important to us that international students feel at home in Bielefeld. That is why we have set ourselves the goal of
- support international students and visiting academics in their integration into the University and the University of Applied Sciences (HSBI) as well as the city of Bielefeld,
- to support international students financially during their studies and to support them in emergencies,
- to promote relationships between international students and visiting academics and people and companies in the region,
- provide international students and graduates with insights into companies in the region and, together with the Career Services of the University and the University of Applied Sciences, highlight career prospects

- Declaration on the EU Data Protection Regulation according to Art. 7 (GDPR)
The society for the support of international students in Bielefeld (VISIB e.V.) collects, stores and uses the personal data of its members exclusively within the scope of their membership. As part of membership administration, the following data is collected from each member upon joining:
- Surname, first name
- Street House number
- Postcode City
- Telephone number
- Mobile phone
- E-mail address
- Amount of membership fee
This data is used for invitations to events organised by the association and for internal use within the association (e.g. written membership directory, dispatch of information from the association). Access to the personal data is granted to the Executive Board, the head office together with the employees of the head office and the respective IT service provider. The data is blocked after termination of membership and deleted after expiry of the statutory retention period for business documents.
The collection and processing of data is necessary for the fulfilment of the above-mentioned purpose and is based on Art. 6 (1a), (1b) and (1f) of the General Data Protection Regulation (DSGVO). The data will not be passed on to third parties. The data will be deleted as soon as it is no longer required for the purpose of its processing.
You have the right to object to the use of your data for the above-mentioned purposes in whole or in part at any time. You are also entitled to request help desk access to the data we have stored about you and, if the data is incorrect, to request that it be corrected or, in the case of unauthorised data storage, that it be deleted. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority.
