Teaching Experience Semester

The study projects are the centrepiece of the university part of the Teaching Experience Semester and at the same time the central examination of the Teaching Experience Semester module. As pupils, you should examine the school's field of action from a research-based perspective using the principles of research-based learning in order to be able to draw conclusions for your future professional practice. Characteristics of research-based learning include

  • The independent choice of possible focuses of research: The planning, implementation and evaluation of the study projects serve your own professionalisation. You should therefore always reflect on what consequences you can draw from the study project for your own professionalisation. Ideally, this already applies during the planning process and the associated choice of the focus of research,
  • independently familiarising yourself with the research question (exploring theories, searching for possible methods, etc.),
  • the transparent, intersubjectively comprehensible processing of the results,
  • the development and expansion of a basic research attitude.

Integrated Studies for Primary Education ("Sachunterricht") students can write study projects in elementary mathematics, German literacy, educational sciences and the subject of "Sachunterricht". You must choose two of the four areas (Integrated Studies for Primary Education ("Sachunterricht", elementary mathematics, German literacy, educational sciences) in which to carry out your two study projects. You also have the opportunity to write interdisciplinary study projects.

Study projects in Integrated Studies for Primary Education ("Sachunterricht") must have an explicit reference to didactics. Possible focal points of these projects with exemplary topics from the last semesters are

  • Didactic concepts of Integrated Studies for Primary Education ("Sachunterricht") in classroom practice
    • "The complexity of the world - multi-perspectivity in the differentiation matrix"

  • etc.

The study projects are to be planned as empirical projects. It is up to you whether you design the projects using qualitative or quantitative research methods. The following blog Research in the Teaching Experience Semester offers tips and advice for method-guided planning, implementation and evaluation. You can view the titles of previous study projects in the corresponding tab.
