Welcome to the Centre for Childhood and Youth Studies!

The Center for Research on Childhood and Adolescence (ZKJF) at Bielefeld University is a self-organised forum for research, discussion and publication. It promotes long-term inter- and intra-disciplinary exchange on theoretical and empirical issues in childhood and youth research – both within Bielefeld University and beyond.

The focus is on the life circumstances, well-being, social practices and coping strategies of children, adolescents and young adults. Particular emphasis is placed on collaboration with academic, business, government and local authority stakeholders. In addition, the ZKJF organises international symposia and is committed to supporting young researchers.

The Center for Research on Childhood and Adolescence builds on Bielefeld’s long tradition of research into childhood and youth and was founded on 1 September 1990.
