In many areas of medical research, the time to the occurrence of an event (such as death or remission) is the main outcome measure. A major difference to other data situations is that the event times can often not be fully observed during the course of the study. Survival time analysis deals with the modeling of "censored" data, which cannot be correctly analyzed using conventional statistical methods. We are currently working on the development of new methods for survival time analysis that are suitable for complex study designs and at the same time offer intuitive results for practical application.
