With the establishment of a gender guest professorship as an interdisciplinary "visiting professorship," Bielefeld University, together with its faculties, is setting an example for the strengthening of gender-specific content in research and teaching. This initiative aims to expand the dissemination and anchoring of gender-related knowledge in individual disciplines, as well as to increase the visibility of women in research and teaching. Within the university, this initiative is in line with the rectorate's objective of strengthening issues related to equal opportunities, gender, and diversity. For one year, starting in the summer semester of 2018, the Faculty of Physics and BINAS were able to recruit Prof. Dr. Uta Klement from Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg as a guest professor.
At Chalmers University of Technology, Prof. Klement heads the Department of Materials and Manufacture and her own research group, Surface and Microstructure Engineering.
