The workshop is part of the project fair*Körpert - Promoting Knowledge and Diversity in Gynaecology, which is funded by the Rita Suessmuth Research Award.

 

• 10.-11.02.206: Workshop "Generating meaning together: Co-construction and Gender as Experience" with Prof Dr Bettina Dausien (University of Vienna) and Jannis Ruhnau (fellow from 2021-2024, Bielefeld University). The workshop will create a discussion space for joint interpretation for researchers working with interpretative research approaches. The focus is on the concrete practice of working with material. Communicative spaces of interpretation are essential for re- or co-constructive interpretative research practice: generating meaning together - and working together with material such as transcripts, ethnographic protocols, diary entries or other data that create a co-construction.
   
• 10.-11.2.2026: Thinking At the Edge, workshop with Heinke Deloch. In the workshop, the participants' research projects were thought through using the thinking movements of Thinking at the Edge. The focus was on the inclusion of the implicit, physically perceptible situational experience of the researchers in the articulation of new meanings in the context of their own research work. Particular attention was paid to sharpening the individual lines of thought by specifying central concepts and establishing coherent relationships between the central theses of the respective projects.

 

• 29.01.2026: In the 'Reflection Room' series, Prof. Dr Marlene Kowalski (visiting gender professor at Bielefeld University (2024/25) and head of the Centre 'Active against sexualised violence' unit at Diakonie Deutschland); Prof. Dr Bernhard Pörksen (media scientist at the University of Tübingen) and Prof. Dr Oliver Flügel-Martinsen (Professor of Political Theory and History of Ideas, Bielefeld University) discussed whether and how specially produced mechanisms in progressive institutions enable and legitimise sexualised violence and discriminatory practices, among other things. • 21.01.2026: Workshop with Heinke Deloch on the method of 'Thinking the Edge'. The participants worked on understanding specific research materials (transcripts/texts). Based on the physically perceptible resonance to the materials, new hypotheses and contexts were formulated and critically examined using systematic bias control.

 

• 20.01.2026: Opening of the Science Year 2026 by Federal Research Minister Dorothee Bär. Focus topics are women's health and science communication in times of disinformation. The first panel featured Prof. Dr Sabine Oertelt-Prigione (Gender-Sensitive Medicine, Bielefeld University), who called for gender roles to be addressed when approaching biological differences.

 

• 19.01.2026: Lecture by Prof. Dr Diana Lengersdorf and Jannis Ruhnau (fellow from 2021-2024) in the series 'Krise der Weltordnung(en) des Public Science Forum Offene Wissenschaften. Topic: 'Keeping order stable worldwide - the example of masculinity'. The lecture focused on the question of the significance of the modern gender order for the stabilisation of social order structures.

 

• 16.01.2026: Lecture by Johanna Budke, fellow from 2021-2024, as part of the colloquium of the working group 'Feminist Perspectives in Medicine and Bioethics' (https://fmedizinethik.org/): 'Unmediated upheaval: The experience of premature menopause'. In her empirical study, she combined feminist-phenomenological and sociological approaches to knowledge. Feminist approaches to clinical ethics counselling aim to systematically reflect on gender-specific power relations, social inequalities and structural discrimination and to incorporate them into ethical decision-making processes.

The discussion centred on the topic 'Revisiting Archives and Ethnography from an Intersectional Perspective'.

 

• 14.01.-15.01.2026: Workshop: 'EMBODIED METHODS - Revisiting archives and ethnography to understand gendered lived experiences'. The workshop brought together researchers to discuss methodological and conceptual issues such as the role of silence in different research contexts, the body as a conceptual and methodological category in research practice, and the positioning and embodied presence of researchers. • 22.11.2025: Diagnosis: ‘medical gaslighting’. According to studies, women are more frequently affected by the fact that their symptoms are not taken seriously. The programme in the ARD Gesund series explores the question of how medical gaslighting arises and why it affects women in particular. • 01.10.2023: Johanna Budke was elected spokesperson for the 'Gender and Health' working group of the German Society for Medical Sociology (DGMS). The aim of the working group is to examine approaches to gender-sensitive and intersectional health research and practice and to discuss current research findings and prepare them for the general public. • 09.-10.02.2023: Retreat of the RTG 'Gender as Experience' at Haus Ohrbeck (Georgsmarienhütte) with Prof. Dr Andrea Maihofer (Head of the Centre for Gender Studies, University of Basel), the spokesperson of the RTG, the PIs and the fellows. The working meeting served to present and discuss the findings from the fellows' research projects.
