Email Setup & Usage

IT at the Faculty of Physics
Bielefeld University/Christoph Pelargus

Access via web interface

The web interface can be accessed at https://mail.physik.uni-bielefeld.de/roundcube. Access is possible with the corresponding physics account user name and password. Alternatively, the corresponding email address can also be entered as the user name.

Access via desktop client (Thunderbird)

As an alternative to the web interface, Thunderbird can also be used to access the email account.

We recommend the use of Thunderbird. Other email clients, such as Outlook, are not supported by us!

The Thunderbird client is set up as follows.

1. Go to "Settings" at the bottom left

2 . Go to "Account settings" in the settings menu at the bottom left

3. In the account settings at the bottom left, go to "Account actions" and "Add email account"

4. Enter your own name as the account name, the email address of the physics account(username@physik.uni-bielefeld.de) as the email address and the password of the physics account as the password

5. Confirm with "Next", Thunderbird should then automatically recognise the remaining settings

If the server configuration is not automatically recognised by Thunderbird, the server settings are as follows
