Bielefeld University is closely connected with civil society, business and politics. A variety of formats promote stimulating exchange between science and the public.
Findings from basic research are carried over into society: through cooperation with business enterprises, non-profit organizations as well as through policy advice, but also through spin-offs. This also applies to the surrounding urban community of Bielefeld and the OWL region, with which Bielefeld maintains close ties and provides impetus for issues of local and regional relevance. Thus, an important contribution is made to the development of a progressive and participative knowledge society.
The wait is over: Wissenswerkstadt Bielefeld opened its doors for the first time on September 6, 2024. After two and a half years of renovation, the Wissenswerkstadt opens in a listed building in the heart of Bielefeld's city center.
