Information for mentors
Procedure
- Registration for mentors: from 1 January (summer semester), from 1 July (winter semester)
- Compulsory introductory event for prospective mentors: Mid / end of January or end of June / mid July (next date: 8.7.25)
- Matching: mainly February/March or August/September, but also later
- after matching: first contact between mentor and mentee, then feedback to the mentoring team
- At least 6 hits, which you briefly document on our Moodle platform
- Certificate for mentors after submission of documentation and feedback forms from mentor and mentee
Important
- There is no guarantee of a placement. Register early to have the best chance of finding a mentor or mentee.
- If no matching is possible, you will be placed on a waiting list.
- If, as a mentee, you no longer wish to study at Bielefeld University after all, please cancel your registration with us immediately.

- Who are we looking for?
- Dedicated mentors who support international students for 6 months from March or September
- Open to students from all countries of origin, subject areas and genders
- At least B2 knowledge of German and English

- What requirements must you fulfil for a certificate?
- Participation in the two-hour introduction for mentors (next date: 8.7.25)
- Active accompaniment and support of a mentee
- Short documentation of the hits
- Participation in an event organised by the International Office for the support of international students OR in an event on the topic of a stay abroad
- Submission of the feedback form at the end of the mentoring activity
- for staff, people who would like to have the activity recognised for their studies, a matching with two to three mentees takes place if required
