BIPs are intended to enable a short study or training period abroad, which is carried out as part of a jointly organised event. BIPs are offered by a consortium of at least 3 universities from 3 different European Erasmus+ programme countries; universities from other programme or partner countries (third countries) can be involved as an option. The action thus supports the development of joint short-term programmes that are ideally embedded in the curricula of the cooperating universities. BIPs can be part of the universities' existing curricula or complement them in a meaningful way. They can be established as a new teaching format or interpreted as an extension of existing formats with additional features.
A central element of BIPs is the mandatory virtual component, which enables content-related preparation, support and follow-up of the short mobility phase. The scope and frequency of the virtual component are at the discretion of the organising universities and depend on the learning objectives of the respective event.
The BIPs funding line can and should appeal to members of Bielefeld University and encourage them to design learning units with colleagues abroad who have little experience with this form of collaboration. At the same time, the format also offers a possible approval of international experience for students for whom longer stays abroad may not be possible for various reasons. For the organisation and implementation of BIPs, the cooperating universities have organisational resources at their disposal that can be used flexibly.
BIPs offer a very good opportunity for students/doctoral candidates and university staff to gain international academic/personal experience and develop new perspectives for their studies or working environment.
