
Bielefeld University is part of the NEOLAiA network, an association of nine young, dynamically developing higher education institutions in various European regions beyond the metropolises. With a regional focus, NEOLAiA aims to create an open and inclusive educational and social environment that sponsors equity at the university and in European society as a whole.

Representatives of the nine partner universities of the European University Alliance NEOLAiA met in Örebro (Sweden) – including representatives of Bielefeld University led by Rector Professor Dr Angelika Epple and Vice Rector for International Affairs, Diversity and Society Professor Dr Michaela Vogt.
Partner meeting advances development of the degree programme
NEOstaff Week within the European University Alliance NEOLAiA. More than 30 staff members from all NEOLAiA partner universities took part in the NEOstaff Week at Bielefeld University from May 4 to 8. They exchanged ideas, learned from one another, and identified best practices regarding diversity and inclusion across all nine NEOLAiA locations.
To coincide with Europe Day 2016, the Student Adivsory Group in Bielefeld honoured the competition entries with an exhibition at Bielefeld University.


Within the Alliance, Bielefeld University coordinates the topic area "Inclusion and Diversity" and thus Work Package 3 "Diversity & Inclusion". The heads of the work package are Professor Dr Michaela Vogt and Dr Amelie Labusch.
