Volume drive

BITS offers so-called volume drives on its central storage system for faculties and departments, which can be used as a storage location for larger amounts of data, e.g. measurement data or videos, on which high-performance, interactive access is no longer required.

Scope of services

Storage space size as required
Protocols: CIFS (via DFS)
Default size at department:2 TB
Backup for disaster recovery coverage. Execution time depends on daily data change rate. Retention periods are determined by BITS. Restores are possible on a case-by-case basis with no promise of a recovery period.
A volume increase takes place in 1 TB increments.

An application can be made through the decentralized EDP supervisor via BITS.

Costs

150,00€ per TB / year

Deployment times

Initial department of a volume drive:
approx. 10 working days after commissioning.

Expansion of an existing volume drive:
approx. 5 working days after commissioning.

Duty to cooperate

For the initial provision of the service, personal coordination between EDP supervision and BITS is usually required in advance.
