Offering physicist women's outings serves the purpose of gaining new impetus for future research areas, getting to know like-minded people, strengthening the sense of community among physicist women, and building a network.
Do you have any suggestions for our physicist women's excursion? Which research institution have you always wanted to visit? Please let us know if you have any ideas (gleichstellung@physik.uni-bielefeld.de).
The event is limited to 20 participants.
In July, 11 female physicists from the faculty visited the Plasmatreat company in Steinhagen as part of the 2025 Female Physicists' Field Trip. During an engaging lecture, followed by a tour of laboratories and production halls, the participants gained insights into current applications of plasma technology and the company's interdisciplinary working practices.
The next field trip is already being planned: On November 15, the Equal Opportunities Commission is inviting women to a field trip to Münster. Together with physicists from all over Germany, we want to celebrate the conclusion of the quantum year.
After a break due to the coronavirus pandemic, the female physicists' excursion to the Ubbedissen Public Observatory took place in July 2024. Under the guidance of Björn Kähler, the participants were able to observe the sun with their (protected) eyes and the 40 cm reflecting telescope. The subsequent dinner provided ample opportunity for networking and exchanging experiences.
The next female physicists' excursion will take place in January/February 2025. A laboratory tour at Plasmatreat GmbH Steinhagen is planned.
