The sustainability mission statement and the goals set out in it are aligned with other cross-sectional initiatives at the university, such as diversity, health, equal opportunities, inclusion, internationalisation, good cooperation, and the Family Service. At Bielefeld University, these cross-sectional initiatives are not subsumed under sustainability but are addressed as separate areas yet are coordinated with one another.
