Did you know that the campus of Bielefeld University is currently home to a total of 11 bee colonies? The bee hives are located on the outdoor facilities of the biology department, here benefits for nature, science and teaching are linked: Honey bees are on the one hand suppliers of honey and wax, on the other hand interesting objects for school, study and research due to their social behavior, reproduction and other biological peculiarities. The "AG-Bienen" already received the environmental and climate protection award of the city of Bielefeld in 2014.
